Their Cold shrink tubing has a plastic coil which is placed over the joint or cable end; this inner spiral is then pulled out, the insulating tube then contracts to its pre-stretched size and shrinks onto the cable, exerting constant radial pressure for the lifetime of the joint or termination. The tubes are made from extruded EPDM or silicone that are stretched onto a spiral core.

Our Range Of Armoured Cable Joints

Armoured Cable are used a great deal in the UK; and as their name suggests, they feature an armour that protects the cable, which is especially useful when the cable is underground. They are also often referred to as SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) Cables. These types of cables require specific types of cable joints for ease of installation.

At ETS Cable Components we offer a wide range of joints for Armoured Cables, including low voltage versions, such as heat shrink, cold shrink and resin filled. For higher voltages, we stock products like these Single Core Straight Joints from 3M, which are ideal for armoured and unarmoured polymeric cables up to 52kV.

We also supply the 3M 92-AG and 94-AC series of Cold Shrink QuickSplice MV single-core cable joints. These accessories are designed for the jointing of polymeric insulated aluminium wire, or lead sheathed cables up to 33kV.

With these armoured cable joints, installation will be quick and straight-forward, with no naked flame required. They come supplied with a mechanical core connector and have in-built stress control and core re-screening.

The LV Heat Shrink Straight Cable Joint Kits, which use components from our standard LV heat shrink joint kits are suitable for XLPE/SWA/LSF 600/1000v power cables, perfect for buried applications.

Our standard joint sizes range from 1.5-2.5mm2 to 240-400mm2 and are ideal for 4core SWA cables. Additionally, this range has been further developed to incorporate four specially-designed joints to suit single-core cables.

Almost any cable combination can be accommodated, with custom straight joints variants available for transitional or trifurcating jointing.
