The prime purpose of a separable connector is to make it easier to connect cables to your electrical equipment.

Nowadays, this type of product takes many forms, including ‘load break elbows’ for a convenient method of connecting and disconnecting cables, and ‘dead break elbows’ to connect equipment on primary feeder and network circuits.
