TE Connectivity Heat Shrink Gland Kits

TE Connectivity heat shrink gland or “Top Hat” gland kits are manufactured from either galvanised mild steel (1605, 1606 & 1607) or aluminium sheet (1608), with heat-shrinkable outer shroud and worm drive connection to the cable armour wires.

These tubular TE Connectivity glands provide an effective moisture seal around the cable sheath and earth the cable armour wires. The gland fixings are made to match the stud spacings of specified in BS2562.

EAKT 1605, 1606 & 1607: suitable for three-core (3core) SWA cables up to 36kV. Supplied with integral earthing facility.

EAKT 1608: suitable for single-core AWA cables up to 36kV.

TE-Connectivity Heat Shrink Single-Core AWA Gland Kit (Set of 3) – EAKT 1608

EAKT 1608 “Top Hat” gland kit is designed to be used with single-core (1core) AWA cables. The kit includes a set of three tubular glands with M10 four-bolt fixings to BS2562 dimension X: 66.0 x 66.0mm fixing centres.

Manufactured from aluminium alloy and suitable for use with AWA cables up to 36kV, the cable armour wires are effectively earthed around the circumference of the gland.

Supplied as a set of three phases with sealant-lined heat shrink shrouds to provide a barrier to moisture ingress.

  • Insulating plates are also available for instances where the AWA is required to be isolated from the equipment, see the IG-1 kit (three required).

TE-Connectivity EAKT 1608 properties:

  • Cable diameter range: 36.0-60.0mm
  • BS2562 X fixing centres: 66.0 x 66.0mm
  • Bore hole diameter: 66.0mm
  • Mounting plate dimensions: 90.0 x 90.0mm
  • Gland length: 145mm

Suitable for a range of conductor cross-sectional areas, depending on the cable’s maximum voltage rating. Smaller cable diameters can be accommodated by using additional heat shrink build-up kits. Please contact our MV Sales Team for advice.

EAKT 1606 “Top Hat” gland kit, or steel tubular glands, are manufactured from galvanised sheet steel and suitable for use with all SWA cables up to 36kV.

The cable armour wires are effectively earthed around the circumference of the gland, with an integral earth facility provided on the mounting flange to allow connection to the building system earth.

EAKT 1606 glands are suitable for three-core MV power cables and supplied with a sealant-lined heatshrink shroud to provide a barrier to moisture ingress.

Supplied with M12 fixings and BS2562 Y fixing centres: 86.0 x 95.0mm. Each TE-Connectivity gland kit is suitable for a range of conductor cross-sectional areas, depending on the cable’s maximum voltage rating.

EAKT 1606 gland kit properties:

  • Cable diameter range: 53.0-94.0mm
  • BS2562 Y fixing centres: 86.0 x 95.0mm
  • Bore hole diameter: 98.0mm
  • Mounting plate dimensions: 115.0 x 135.0mm
  • Gland length: 145.0mm

TE-Connectivity Heat Shrink Three-Core SWA Insulated Gland Kit – EAKT 1607

EAKT 1607 “Top Hat” insulated gland kit manufactured from galvanised sheet steel and suitable for use with all SWA cables up to 36kV. Supplied complete with insulating plate and nylon fixings for instances where the cable armouring is required to be isolated from the equipment.

The cable armour wires can still be effectively earthed around the circumference of the gland and taken to earth by means of the integral earth facility provided on the mounting flange.

EAKT 1607 insulated glands are suitable for three-core MV power cables and supplied with a sealant-lined heatshrink shroud to provide a barrier to moisture ingress.

Supplied with M10 fixings and BS2562 Y fixing centres: 86.0 x 95.0mm. Each TE-Connectivity gland kit is suitable for a range of conductor cross-sectional areas, depending on the cable’s maximum voltage rating.

EAKT 1607 gland kit properties:

  • Cable diameter range: 53.0-94.0mm

HSGK 3 “Top Hat” gland kit is designed to be used with single-core (1core) AWA cables. The kit includes a set of three tubular glands with M10 four-bolt fixings to BS2562 dimension X: 66.0 x 66.0mm fixing centres.

Manufactured from aluminium alloy and suitable for use with AWA cables up to 36kV, the cable armour wires are effectively earthed around the circumference of the gland.

Supplied as a set of three phases with sealant-lined heat shrink shrouds to provide a barrier to moisture ingress.

  • Shrouds can be supplied as separate items for instances where the glands have been supplied with the equipment.
