Customer Statement on Brexit
As the UK prepares to leave the European Union following the referendum in June 2016, we are working with our customers and suppliers to ensure a seamless transition which maintains our high level of service.
ETS Cable Components is part of an International PLC with in excess of 160 distribution and manufacturing companies, the majority of which are based and operate outside the UK in other European Union countries.
ETS exports goods every week to some of the most complex borders around the world and we are confident in the network of partnerships we have developed with freight forwarding and shipping companies.
It is suggested that a ‘no-deal Brexit’ would mean trade between the UK and Europe operating under WTO guidelines. ETS currently operates within WTO guidelines for much of our trade outside Europe and we have systems in place to address the logistics of these terms, including accessing permits and paperwork and arranging relevant certification.
Tariff codes that are required under WTO regulations are set up for all our products and are currently used for our trade outside of the EU.
The majority of our accessories are sourced from UK manufacturers who also have manufacturing and distribution facilities in Europe.
We have provisional agreements that products can be sourced directly from European manufacturing bases in the event of a ‘no-deal’ exit.
Our suppliers have also increased stock both in the UK and in Europe to ease any initial supply concerns.
We have also made plans to stock products in Europe within our group facilities should the need arise.
ETS Cable Components have made a commitment to invest and increase our stock holding to alleviate any initial concerns over product availability.
We have recently completed a relocation of our head office much larger premises to facilitate our growing business, with a far higher stock holding capacity.
Shipping and Freight Forwarding
We have an established partnership with our freight forward companies who have Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status. This is an internationally recognised quality mark that enables shipments to be fast-tracked through customs.
